RIP: RRR Actor Ray Stevenson
New Delhi: Ray Stevenson, the talented Irish actor who played the role of the villainous British Raj governor of Delhi in the film 'RRR', was deeply respected and beloved by his colleagues on the set, as evidenced by the heartfelt tribute paid to him by SS Rajamouli following his passing.
Expressing his disbelief, the director of 'RRR' took to Twitter and expressed, "I am utterly shocked by this news. It is difficult for me to comprehend. Ray brought an immense amount of energy and vitality to the set. His infectious enthusiasm was palpable. Collaborating with him was an absolute joy. My heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to his family. May his soul rest in eternal peace."
According to reports from the media, Stevenson, who was 58 years old, passed away on Sunday. He first gained recognition through his appearances on television shows in the 1990s. Later on, he transitioned to action roles in Hollywood films, most notably known for his portrayal of Volstagg in Marvel's 'Thor' franchise.
One of Stevenson's notable achievements in the film industry came in 2004 when he starred in Antoine Fuqua's adventure film 'King Arthur.' He played the character Dagonet, one of the Knights of the Round Table. In the movie, his character bravely sacrifices himself during a battle to support Arthur (played by Clive Owen) and the other warriors, as reported by 'Variety.'
